Tom Roche '78 (427 Colonial Ave., Westfield, NJ 07090-3008; This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) My name is Tom Roche Class of '78. On June 1st of this year, I was elected President of the New Jersey Society of CPA's (more on line at NJSCPA.org). I have been a CPA in NJ since 1981 and was honored to serve a one-year term representing over 15,000 members in NJ. The Delta experience certainly has been a large contributor to my ultimate success in the business world. I am senior partner in a local accounting firm in Cranford NJ (Fazio, Mannuzza, Roche, Tankel, LaPilusa LLC)(FMRTL.com) which employees approximately 60 people. I have had the opportunity to speak with many PSU accounting students in NJ at our Scholars Institute and Scholarship awards programs. It is obviously important to give back to the fraternity and university that gave me so much. If I can be of any assistance, please get back to me or use any of the above in a brother update.

May 8, 2011 marks the 35th anniversary of the acceptance by IFC of Alpha Lambda Tau, a new local fraternity that in short order brought Delta Tau Delta back to Penn State. Some of us are planning a reunion celebration of this milestone at Penn State over the weekend of May 6, 7 and 8, 2011. If you do not hear from me directly, and wish to participate, please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The weekend promises to be a lot of fun!

Thanks to Tau Delts who supported me in my effort to win a seat on the PSU Board of Trustees over the past two years. I REALLY appreciate it! Unfortunately, work responsibilities keep me from trying again in 2011. I am afraid I would not have the time to run a successful campaign. BUT - if the new Governor happens to appoint me I will proudly serve - haha! Again, many thanks. Without your support I would not have had as strong a showing as I did. Fraternally, Jim King

Sincere thanks for all of the support I received from Tau Delts during my recent run for a position as a Penn State trustee. It turns out that all three incumbents were reelected, but it was an honor to be nominated, and I may try again in the future. I learned a good deal during the election that should be helpful on a second try. Thanks again for your help!

We have relocated back to Columbus where we have had to learn to cope with the Bucks. I still cheer the Lions on but unfortunately my cheers generally fall on deaf ears. My wife is a Buckeye alum so you can imagine where her allegiance lies. I am currently working as a turnaround / start up consultant focusing on international operations, mainly in the Middle East, Latin America, and the Pacific Rim. In my free time I play golf and travel as time permits. We are off to Germany in the spring to visit our son (Navy - Cmdr - doctor) who heads up the returning Wounded Warrior program at the US Air Force base in Germany. Anybody wanting to contact me can reach us at (703)-597-9989.

Econergy Corporation, a US based manufacturing and sales & marketing company, has been formed to manufacture and distribute an extremely high efficiency, packaged, evaporative condensing chiller. The Company has developed a revolutionary new green, patented (several pending), self-contained, modular, evaporative condensing chiller that consumes 30 – 40% less energy than any traditional air cooled chiller without sacrificing any performance or capacity. There are a number of additional feature value benefits that further reduce the consumption of power beyond the unit's inherent efficiency. Principle among these is the fact that as a result of our method of distributing cooling or heating, the temperature can be individually controlled in each room within the structure. By tailoring the space conditioning requirement's needs of each room in the building or home this will significantly impact and reduce the power consumption associated with each system, particularly during peak demand load hours, Since space conditioning is the principle global culprit in energy consumption, this will significantly impact our everyday use of and demand for electricity.

The product will be imported to the Company's distribution center in the middle Atlantic for final assembly and distributed to commercial, residential, OEM, and national accounts in North America. Other international sales will be managed from bases of operations in Europe and Hong Kong.

The Company's China mainframe production operation and R & D center is situated in a research industrial park with very favorable leasing terms and tax benefits. Initial output will start at 4-6 units/day, and as sales increase, production can be expanded as necessary. The Chinese factory's operating costs, including labor rates, coupled with the Chinese labor forces energetic work ethic, will provide the Company with a low cost of goods sold and advantage in the marketplace, affording us higher than normal production gross margins.

We have also recently aquired the assets of pool heater and heat pump water heater manufacturer.

The Company projects to sell in excess of $19,000,000 USD within the first two years of production. This will grow to +/-$80,000,000 by the fifth production year with a net margin (pre-tax) against all company expenses of +20% and production gross margins in the range of 45%.

We are currently looking for equity funding and invite anyone who has any interest or suggestions as to where we might go for funding to contact me directly. Additional capitalization of $11,200,000 is required for the Company to fully realize its potential and take advantage of the progress it has made so far.

We have an extensive Business Plan and 5 year financial projections we can make available to qualified interested parties.

I am a one-time President of Tau Chapter. My wife, Winnie, and I are currently residing at a continuing care facility affiliated with the University of Florida in Gainesville. My Penn State degree was in engineering, but I spent most of my career in finance and accounting after obtaining an MBA at the University of Michigan in 1961. After several years in industry, I spent 27 years as the chief financial officer at four different universities (including UF's chief rival, Florida State). I am attaching a photo of my wife and myself in Maine where we spend summers.

I have been an adviser, first to Alpha Lambda Tau, and then to Tau Chapter of Delta Tau Delta, since April 1976, so I have seen a lot of history happen. I actually obtained the keys to the front and back doors from the last president of Pi Deuteron Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi in 1978 (that chapter has been revived since then) in order to let our brothers enter the Shelter for the first time. They had a lot of cleaning up and painting to do, but they were efficient and well-organized. I have attended numerous chapter meetings and occasionally meetings of exec or other committees. I was academic adviser to Tau from 1977 to 1986, chapter adviser from 1986 to 1997, and assistant adviser since 1997. I have established warm personal relationships with many of the brothers over the years. I live in State College, but we sold our house on Oneida Street in 2011 and now live in an apartment in Foxdale Village Retirement Community about one mile from the Shelter.

I, "Doc G," continue to serve as academic adviser to the Tau Chapter, an easy job as the brothers and pledges are bright and study hard. My wife and I have sold our house and moved to Foxdale Village Retirement Community. Westview Press published the tenth edition of my textbook, A Concise History of the Middle East, in November 2012; Scarecrow Press will publish the fourth edition of my Historical Dictionary of Egypt in 2013.
